Plant new seed in the spring or fall when air temperatures are consistently between 60° and 80°F. To apply on a new lawn, rake to loosen the top layer of soil and remove dead grass and debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. When overseeding, mow at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Use a Scotts® spreader at the recommended setting to apply and rake lightly to ensure the seed is covered just beneath the soil surface. Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist for at least 3 weeks, or until seedlings reach 2 inches in height. One 12 lb. bag of Scotts Max™ Grass Seed Sun and Shade Mix® covers up to 1,600 sq. ft. of new lawn or up to 4,800 sq. ft. when overseeding.
